1950 - Harmonica wizard and sharp-dressed showman Rick Estrin, Front man of Rick Estrin & The Nightcats - if you've ever seen him blow the harp and crack wise on stage, you know the blues is still alive and dangerous.
1964 - Country-tinged blues-rock heartbreaker Gary Allan, that smoky voice and telecaster tone have been breaking hearts and rasing glasses for decades.
On this day in history: 1957 - Elvis Preley's Jailhouse Rock film hit the theaters in the U.S. One of the King's most iconic movies, loaded with raw rhythm & blues attitude.
1969 - The Rolling Stones' infamous free concert at Altamont Speedway, a chaotic, historic moment in rock that also showcased the darker side of blues-rock explosion of the late '60s.
